چکیده

Introduction: In vivo myocardial T1 quantification is challenging because of severe time constraints due to cardiac and respiratory motion. The multipoint approach (Look and Locker) allows sampling the relaxation curve multiple times after an initial preparation pulse achieving the full coverage of the curve in a single breath-hold [1]. The recognized limitation of this approach is that pixel-bypixel T1 mapping of the heart is difficult because data acquisition is performed continuously throughout the cardiac cycle without regard for cardiac motion. Hence, T1 values are usually evaluated only in a single region of interest (ROI), manually defined for every frame. The objective of this study is to develop an image analysis procedure able to provide T1 mapping for multipoint sequences automatically compensating for cardiac motion.

Simultaneous T1 mapping, cine imaging, and IR-prepared imaging of the rat heart using Small Animal Look-Locker Inversion recovery (SALLI)

Background: T1 mapping of the heart in rodents is challenging due to high heart rates, preventing the use of non-segmented MRI techniques that have been developed for human studies. We propose a novel acquisition and reconstruction scheme generating cardiac T1 maps, cine images and inversion recovery (IR)-prepared images at the same time. Methods: Small Animal Look-Locker Inversion recovery (SA...

Measurement of strain in the left ventricle during diastole with cine-MRI and deformable image registration.

The assessment of regional heart wall motion (local strain) can localize ischemic myocardial disease, evaluate myocardial viability, and identify impaired cardiac function due to hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathies. The objectives of this research were to develop and validate a technique known as hyperelastic warping for the measurement of local strains in the left ventricle from clinical ...

Strain Measurement in the Left Ventricle During Systole with Deformable Image Registration

The objective of this study was to validate a deformable image registration technique, termed Hyperelastic Warping, for left ventricular strain measurement during systole using cine-gated, non-tagged MR images with strains measured from tagged MRI. The technique combines deformation from high resolution, non-tagged MR image data with a detailed computational model, including estimated myocardia...

Fast quantitative measurement of T1 in cardiac delay enhanced studies

Introduction: Contrast delayed enhancement (DE) is a well established MRI technique for the evaluation of various cardiac diseases in magnetic resonance imaging. Healthy and injured myocardium show a different distribution of contrast agent (CA) 10-20 minutes after a bolus injection. This difference can be used in ischemic heart disease to detect like infarction and fibrosis, and in cardiomyopa...

Longitudinal automated assessments of myocardial strain from cine MR in cancer patients receiving cardiotoxic chemotherapy

Background The use of chemotherapy for the treatment of cancer is associated with cardiovascular injuries and is most commonly monitored with assessments of left ventricular ejection fraction (EF) [1]. Often, EF changes are detected quite late; myocardial strain may identify early, subclinical changes in myocardial injury prior to a decline in EF. Recently, it has been possible to measure myoca...
